BACKTAGS YOU FROM THE TRENCHES GOMEN

[Taryon's pictures on the network looked knightly! Like from books Dan Heng had as a child! And the man is quite polite so he does not feel incorrect in his title inference. (Oh good backstory for me to know though...oho)

Dan Heng smiles quietly when Taryon admires Cloud-Piercer. A masterpiece from lifetimes ago. The jade edges remain sharp as ever.
] It is. It's been my companion for my entire life... [And even before.

Dan Heng pauses at the question of the weapon's maker, his heart constricting with a grief he cannot claim as his own.
] ...His name was Yingxing. An arrogant man, with a scarred heart, and something to prove. And...a dear friend. [He doesn't have to specify whose, since it's...so very complicated.]

The people where I'm from are extremely long lived. Yingxing...was human. [Was.] And yet, in his short allotted years, he accomplished much, and was indeed a galaxy renowned blacksmith. He made many weapons wielded by heroes- [and now...enemies. He couldn't have known. None of them did.] -of the Xianzhou Luofu, and progressed our automaton technology to incredible levels to protect us from the abominations of the Abundance.

[The corner of his mouth quirks up a little, full of bittersweet melancholy, and yet of fondness.] I think he would have loved to "talk shop" with you, Ser Darrington. Magic and enchantments were not his strong-suit. [Dan Heng doesn't know how he knows this. He's learning to not question it, lest he spiral into existential dread.

Dan Heng follows along with the suggestions with rapt attention, then pauses at the last question.
] No apologies necessary. As for what it does; it's...hard to say, since it's been with me for so long. But I believe it offers me greater speed when I fight, and slows enemies down when they're struck. [He taps the orb of energy embedded in the spearhead, and it seems to want to follow his finger.] It acts as a...focus for my cloudhymn magic, making water easier to call upon.
But I also throw the spear sometimes, and it's...difficult to get it back manually. Is there a way to enchant it to just return to my hand? Or...I don't know what sort of magics you can craft with.
